President Trump’s Senior Advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner is currently in Iraq, The New York Times has reported.

No formal announcement was made regarding the trip, and the White House has not confirmed Kushner’s presence in Iraq.

But according to a senior US official, the president’s son-in-law travelled to Iraq along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine General Joseph Dunford.

No additional details regarding Kushner’s trip have been disclosed.

The trip comes after the US deployed an additional 275 troops to northern Iraq as part of the war on ISIS.

A close confidant of Trump throughout his campaign and transition, Kushner has served as Senior Advisor to the President since Trump took office in January. Last month, he received the added title of Director of the White House Office of American Innovation, a new position created by the Trump administration.
