In honor of April Fools' Day, a hacker targeted the New York Post, sending a series of push alerts comparing US President Donald Trump to Hitler.

"Heil President Donald Trump," the alert began on Saturday evening. "Hear me now, for I speak as an angel in the words of God."

"In casting truth into the darkness of your shadow, you have gravely sinned... and yet, for your generosity of spirit and sharpness of mind, salvation remains within reach.

"Open your heart to those you do not understand, and listen to all those you fear and look down upon.

"For in truth, there is no other.

"Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours, but don't be late... For the fate of your soul is soon to be decided."

"With lucid love, Selah."

In a later alert, the New York Post said its "push notification system was compromised" on Saturday evening and they were "working to resolve the issue."

"Please accept our apologies," the staff said.

New York Post owner Rupert Murdoch reportedly has a close relationship with Trump.
