Beginning the weekly government meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said he will work to strengthen ties with the United Kingdom and promised to work to advance the Jerusalem municipality's interests.

"We are at the beginning of a politically significant period for the State of Israel," Netanyahu said. "This afternoon, I will leave to meet United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May and UK Foreign Minister Boris Johnson. I will speak with them about creating a closer political, security, economic, and technological, and cyber relationship between Israel and the United Kingdom.

"In the political field, I will tell them about Israel's need to work together with other countries to fight Iran, who has recently violated international agreements by conducting missile tests.

"Regarding last week's strike in Jerusalem, I spoke to Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat about Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon's (Kulanu) opinion... I asked him to stop the strike and come speak with me about the issues, so that we can work together to find a solution.

"Jerusalem is precious to all of us, and we will work to find a creative and responsible solution which will move the city forward," Netanyahu promised.
