North Korea's Foreign Minister, Ri Yong Ho, said on Thursday the country was ready to launch another attack against the "provocations" of the United States, Reuters reported.

The comments come after American bombers this week flew over South Korea in a show of solidarity with its ally after Pyongyang's latest nuclear test.

North Korea set off its most powerful nuclear blast to date this month, saying it had mastered the ability to mount a warhead on a ballistic missile.

Two U.S. B-1 bombers flew over South Korea on Tuesday, drawing condemnation from the North.

"The people of Korea are ready to stage another attack against the provocations of the United States," said Ri during a speech at a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement countries in Venezuela that was translated into Spanish, according to Reuters.

Seoul has warned that North Korea was ready to conduct an additional nuclear test at any time.

North Korea's latest test launched a fresh push by the United States and South Korea for more sanctions, but Pyongyang has brushed that off, saying pressure for further sanctions was "laughable" and vowing to continue to strengthen its nuclear power.

The test is the latest in a series of provocations by Pyongyang. Late last month, North Korea fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), which its leader, Kim Jong Un, later boasted was "the greatest success" that put the country in the "front rank" of nuclear military powers.

In July, the North test fired three ballistic missiles. In fact, tensions in the region have soared since Pyongyang carried out its fourth nuclear test in January, claiming it was a hydrogen bomb.
