Education Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home), whose began his career in the hi tech world and whose start-up firm invented "risk-based authentication," an internet-security system, suggests that the world adopt the same approach to terrorism.

The system is based on risk-assessment, which in terms of counter-terrorism security translates to profiling.

"Israel has thrived over the past decades by a thoughtful approach," Bennett said, "when securing a public space, like a mall, the security guard asks me a question, and then decides by my reaction whether I'm a high or low-risk person. If I'm just a typical Israeli, I can go right through. But if I have a strong Middle-Eastern accent, I'm 23, and I'm male, then the guard might very politely pull me aside and continue checking me out for a few minutes. It might not be politically correct, but it works darn well."

Obviously comparing Israel's system to other countries' methods, he added: "It just doesn't make sense to scrutinize a middle-American grandmother with three grandchildren in tow: Not only is it not effective, but it wastes resources."
