התרעה ביטחונית בנגב: נפרסו מחסומים

Police were on heightened alert in the Negev area on Wednesday night, due to a security threat. Policemen and fighters were deployed along the major roads in the area and roadblocks were set up.

Police stressed that at this stage there are no special instructions for local residents and the public can go on with their normal routines, but should also be aware of suspicious people and objects.

Any suspicious incident should be reported to the 100 emergency hotline.

Two weeks ago, there was a heightened alert in the south, after an Arab from Gaza crossed into the Eshkol Regional Council.

The Arab was initially detected by IDF lookouts and was located a day later after an extensive search.

The suspect was arrested by Border Police officers and transferred to the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) for interrogation, during which it was determined that the incident was not security-related.
