Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lashed out against both the US and Israel in a speech in front of thousands of Iranian citizens and quoted by local media, and al-Manar, Hezbollah's media affiliate in Lebanon.

The Ayatollah claimed that the US is not dealing fairly with Iran, "breaking its promises" while "speaking softly and sweetly" to the Iranians.

Addressing the enforcement of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), more commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal, Khamenei claimed that international sanctions have not been removed fully, as per the deal, and that as a result average living standards in Iran have not gone up.

"Today, even the diplomatic officials and those who were present in the negotiations reiterate the fact that the US is breaching its promises," claimed the Ayatollah, "and while speaking softly and sweetly to us, is busy obstructing and damaging Iran’s economic relations with other countries."

This experience, says Kahmenei, discourages Iran from negotiating with the US and the west on other issues.

"The JCPOA, as an experience, once again proved the futility of negotiations with the Americans, their lack of commitment to their promises and the necessity of distrust of US pledges. They say come and negotiate [with us] on regional issues as well, but the JCPOA experience tells us that taking this step would be a deadly poison and that the Americans’ remarks cannot be trusted on any issue.”

The speech then moved on to the recurring reports that Israel and Saudi Arabia have been secretly meeting and expanding cooperation for years in order to counteract Iranian intransigence in the region.

Khamenei said the Saudis' cooperation with Israel is akin to a "stab in the back" of the Muslim "Ummah" - nation, showing the Saudis to be treacherous and weak.

"This move by the Saudis is a big sin and treachery but the Americans are also complicit in this massive wrong measure because the Saudi government is a follower, possessed by and subservient to the American government," railed the Ayatollah.

In typical fashion, Khamenei then connected the US to the rise of ISIS and other such "Takfiri" (people who call other Muslims infidels to justify violence against them) groups.

"The Americans claim that they have set up a coalition against Takfiri groups. This is while they are carrying out no effective measure against them and according to some reports, they are even providing these groups with assistance."

The Ayatollah ended by calling for regional cooperation in order to deal with ISIS and such groups while also saying that other Arab nations in the region are not to be trusted because they are often manipulated by the US for the all-consuming purpose of protecting the "Zionist regime" of Israel.

"Regional nations are capable of resolving these issues and while calling on regional governments [to help fix these issues], we also reaffirm that the US is not trustworthy and sees the Arab governments as a tool to protect the Zionist regime [of Israel] and meet its own hegemonic interests in the region."
