The Rector of a Brazilian federal university 'ABC' has issued an apology to the Brazilian Jewish community after the appearance of a university job posting sought a teacher of "race and ethnic relations" for a class on "Zionism, Nazism and Apartheid- as Racist Ideologies."

The rector, Klaus Kapel, met with the President of Jewish Organizations in Brazil, Fernando Lotenberg, and issued an apology.

The posting was changed, while the university claimed that the posting had been a mistake from the start, explaining that the posting had mistakenly "grouped together various political regimes and historical facts - as if they were the same thing."

At the same time, the University noted that "the correction of the posting does not cancel the need to hold dialogue on complicated and controversial historic-political topics. University of ABC supports freedom of press, speech and expression."
