A horrific collision between a truck and a car this morning (Wednesday) on Highway 31 left a man in his 30s dead. Although MDA emergency personnel rushed to the scene, they were unable to revive him, and pronounced him dead at the scene.

When the police arrived to fill out a report, though, they were in for a surprise: the man was wanted on suspicion of a double stabbing this morning in Maalei Adumim.

The man is suspected of stabbing his ex-wife and mother-in-law in an apartment this morning, in the Nofei Sela neighborhood of Maalei Adumim.

He is then thought to have fled the scene in his car, where he met his maker on Highway 31, near Arad, in the south.

MDA paramedic Boris Mento, who arrived at the site of the accident, described the scene:

"We're talking about a very severe traffic accident between a truck and a private car. The impact trapped the driver in his car on the road shoulder while he was unconscious, without a pulse, and not breathing, and suffering multi-system trauma. He had no signs of life, and to our sorrow we had no other option but to pronounce him dead at the scene within a short amount of time. The truck driver was examined at the scene, and had to be brought to the hospital."

His 33-year-old ex-wife is in critical condition in Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital. Her mother, aged 53, is in serious condition in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
