A middle-aged man drowned while working on a swimming pool repair in Kibbutz Regavim of the Menashe Regional Council, near the city of Hadera.

According to initial reports, his hand was sucked into a pipe in the communal swimming pool and he was trapped underwater. Magen David Adom paramedics arrived at the scene to administer treatment but were forced to pronounce him dead on arrival.

Lior Elmakayes, a senior MDA medic who arrived at the area, told media: "When we got to the area we saw a man, approximately 55 years old, trapped under the water, unconscious. We were told that he'd come to repair something in the pool. He wan't breathing and we had no choice but to declare him dead shortly after we arrived."
