US President Barack Obama offered an Egyptian teenager $10 million for a device that "turns sun rays into laser," an Egyptian talk show said last week.

Egyptian teen inventor Mustafa Agha participated in the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, Al-Hayat TV said - and won "the gold medal" for his device. The interview was translated into English by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"I received the gold medal in the field of energy," Agha says during the broadcast. "I also received a diploma from Geneva, a special certificate from the largest organization in Korea, and a special certificate from the patent office of Portugal."

"My project consists of a device that uses a large amount of sunlight or sunrays...to produce electric energy, while desalinating seawater," he continued. "We have heard of this idea before, but let me explain what's so special about it and what made it a patent."

Agha further said that his "sunrays into laser" idea was revolutionary, and he and US President Barack Obama "corresponded" via Gmail over it. He reportedly turned down an offer for the device because he cared about Egyptian interests.
