An IDF soldier collapsed while carrying out physical exercise near Tel Aviv on Monday morning.

The soldier, whose identity and unit have not been disclosed, received first aid from a medic in the field and was evacuated to a hospital. Doctors say that he is in serious condition.

The IDF has informed the soldier's family and is investigating what caused him to lose consciousness.

A similar, though even more serious, incident occurred this past March. Private Yehuda Swissa collapsed during the running portion of a physical fitness test. Fellow soldiers tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.

Nineteen-year-old Swissa had only enlisted in the IDF the day before his unfortunate death. He had come from the hesder program at the Karnei Shomron Yeshiva.
