The head of the Jewish Home party's Anglo Forum is vying for a place on the party's Presidential Board.

Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) Anglo Forum Chairman Jeremy Saltan announced his candidacy yesterday for a spot on the seven-member Central Committee Presidential Board. The board sets the agenda for and governs all Central Committee meetings.

The election will take place this Tuesday, during which the Central Committee is also expected to approve changes to the party constitution.

31-year-old Jeremy Saltan made aliyah from Chicago with his family in 1995, and today lives in the Jerusalem suburb of in Mevasseret Zion, where he is the Jewish Home party's Branch Director, as well as serving as the party’s national Anglo Forum Chairman.

Saltan has experience as a campaigner and political aide and has worked at the Knesset, Faction, Ministry and Party levels. He is also a respected Knesset Insider and political and poll analyst, who has regularly faced off against anti-Israel activists, from Gideon Levy to Arab MK Ahmed Tibi, on international TV and radio programs.

Saltan said he hopes to promote the interests of Israel's growing English-speaking community if elected.

"My goal is simple - to represent, strengthen and promote the immigrant community in general and the immigrants from English speaking countries in particular," he said.

"It is the Presidential Board that sets the agenda for the party’s Central Committee meetings, and that is where it is important for us Anglos to have our voice.

"We offer so much as Zionist Jews who came here by choice, at a time when some native Israelis choose to leave our homeland behind. It is time for us to have more influence, and I call on all Anglo supporters of the Bayit Yehudi to help persuade their local Central Committee members to support my candidacy.

"We are the personal example and the backbone of the fundamental principle of our party – the Nation of Israel, in the Land of Israel, according to the Torah of Israel."
