In the wake of a stabbing attempt at Gush Etzion Junction in Judea on Wednesday, in which a 23-year-old Israeli was murdered by errant gunfire intended for the Arab terrorist, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) was asked to limit Arab access to the roads.

The request was made by Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home), who demanded that Arab traffic leading to Gush Etzion Junction be restricted starting today.

"It cannot be that Israeli citizens are wounded time after time at the same place, and there is no appropriate security response," said Ariel.

"I'm in favor of relief measures for the Palestinians, but our basic obligation in the government is to defend citizens of Israel."

"Therefore, this very day the Palestinian traffic on the roads leading to the junction needs to be stopped," said Ariel. "This is not punishment, but rather a prevention of the murder of Jews."

In the attack, an Arab terrorist attempted to conduct a stabbing, and in shooting the terrorist IDF forces accidentally hit the Israeli victim.

The terrorist was also shot and moderately wounded, with both being evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem where the victim succumbed to his wounds.
