Twitter crashed Tuesday morning, leaving users unable to access the popular site or social media app.

As of 9:30 a.m. GMT the site had already been down for around half an hour, with users greeted by the apologetic but vague message: "Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing—we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."

The outage - which also appears to include Twitter's Tweetdeck application - appears to be global, or at least affecting western Europe, Israel and parts of the United States.

By 11:15 a.m. GMT, the site was back to fully functioning.

There has been no word yet on what caused the site to crash.
