Six inebriated men reportedly shouted anti-Semitic slurs at a group of people they identified as Jewish in Budapest's historic Jewish quarter on Tuesday.
Citing Hungarian watchdog, the Forum against anti-Semitism, JTA reported the incident occurred between 12 and 1 a.m. (local time) on Dob Street in the center of Hungary's capital.
The six men began screaming "dirty Jews" at the group of Jews, before going on to accuse them of "killing Jesus."
The altercation luckily did not turn physical and the drunken Hungarians scampered off after hurling the anti-Semitic abuse.
Although the spread of anti-Semitic ideas has been on the rise in Hungary, JTA noted, confrontations like the one described by the Forum remain relatively rare.
Hungary is home to approximately 48,000 Jews, mostly centered in Budapest, although, according to a 2011 census, only some 11,000 self-identify as religious Jews.
