"Israel is under a continuing onslaught of terror," Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced Wednesday evening at the 90th birthday party of former Likud minister Moshe Arens.

"The whole world is awash with wild terror and we are fighting it and will overcome it," Netanyahu vowed at the event being held at the Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem.

The Prime Minister then praised the alert actions of Border Police during the stabbing Wednesday afternoon outside the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem. Sadly, two of three men injured in the attack succumbed to their wounds later in the evening.

During his remarks, Netanyahu recalled the beginnings of his political career, and thanked Arens for helping him enter public life by asking him to serve as an Israeli delegate in Washington.

The Prime Minister lionized Arens as Israel's best-ever ambassador to the United States.

He also commended Arens for his personality, honesty, nobility, and the respect he showed to even those he disagreed with fundamentally.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon expressed great appreciation to Arens for his enormous contribution to boosting Israel's security, emphasizing he had a clear vision, a personal compass, and the ability to implement the things he believed in.

Many senior officials participated in the festivities, including former prime minister Ehud Barak, former defense minister Yitzhak Mordechai, former Mossad director Danny Yatom and numerous others.
