MK Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) told Arutz Sheva on Monday that the lethal arson in Duma this July, in which an Arab couple and their infant son were murdered, has only increased the motivation for Arab terror and caused Jewish blood to be spilled.

Stern defended the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) in its harsh investigation of several Jews being held on vague suspicions of involvement in the arson, even as the suspects' lawyers have revealed their clients have been brutally tortured in an apparent breach of the law, and and at least one minor suspect was illegally detained for longer than 20 days without being allowed to see a lawyer.

"All the steps that the Shabak (ISA) takes are very measured, (and) are very well backed by the most valued judicial systems in the state of Israel," claimed the Yesh Atid MK.

ISA torture of the suspects has been so severe that one of the youths claimed he had attempted suicide, it was revealed on Sunday. Damning audio evidence surfaced of the suspect begging for mercy and revealing several torture methods - including being tied upside down till his hands burned, being kept awake all night, and having his back pummeled to the point of needing medical attention.

But Stern claimed the lawyers of the suspects could not be trusted, saying, "I put a question mark on everything that the lawyers of these youths are saying. I propose that we not fall for lawyers who need to defend, and that's their job."

"I propose instead to look at the Shabak and to look what happened in our backyard, and if it's terror then terror is terror even if it's Jewish terror," said the MK.

"I suggest not doing any soul searching after libeling the Shabak, but rather that those who need to ask themselves the hard questions do so today and not incite the fires against the Shabak."

"I say with a heavy heart, even if they arrested someone who shouldn't have been arrested, due to the seriousness of the phenomenon, even if these are lone incidents - and they are lone incidents - but these are lone incidents that due to them Jewish blood was spilled," he concluded, blaming the arson for the current wave of Arab terror.

Many have argued that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is in fact the major responsible party for the current wave of attacks, as PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in mid September around the time of the first major attack praised every drop of blood spilled in Jerusalem for "Allah," and called to use violence to block "filthy" Jews from the Temple Mount, in a line of incitement that has only continued.

Both Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) have admitted there is no evidence against the suspects to stand them on trial, raising fears that the brutal investigation is meant to force the suspects to make false confessions.

A large protest was held at the entrance to Jerusalem on Sunday night against the brutal handling of the case.
