On Sunday, MK Shulamit "Shuli" Muallem (Jewish Home) along with her daughters went to visit the Gush Katif Heritage Center in Nitzan (south of Ashdod), where Director Mochi Better presented her with an album about Gush Katif.

"Visiting the heritage center with my daughters has an educational significance to remember the history and learn from it," Muallem stated. "Remember that Gush Katif was a spectacular Jewish community that was destroyed because of illusions of peace and the assumption that Arabs can be entrusted with our security."

"The lesson is that Israel can only rely on itself and destroying towns in Eretz Israel and giving up land to the enemy only destroys lives and undermines the security of all displaced citizens,” she added.

Over Hanukkah, the Gush Katif Heritage Center welcomed hundreds of visitors, who learned about the emotional and powerful Gish Katif story.

Moreover, there was a special theatrical show for Hanukkah, and children watched films and participated in a workshop for making latkes.

Gush Katif Heritage Center Director Mochi Better said, “The story of the former Gush Katif residents, as well as the story of Hanukkah, poses many challenges in dealing with the heroic side. On this holiday we got to meet many visitors at the center, along with the visit of MK Mualem, who came to see first-hand the stories of heroism and history of residents Gush Katif."
