The Israel Air Force (IAF) on Sunday night launched airstrikes against two terrorist infrastructures belonging to Hamas in northern and central Gaza, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.

The airstrikes took place in retaliation for earlier rocket fire on southern Israel, the statement said.

A rocket fired from Gaza earlier on Sunday evening struck an open field in the Gaza belt region. There were no physical injuries or damage. Sirens sounded in the area before the rocket exploded

“The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for Gaza and will continue to operate firmly to maintain quiet in the southern localities,” the IDF said.

Several weeks ago, IAF aircraft hit a military compound belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in central Gaza.

This airstrike was also in retaliation for a rocket attack on the Eshkol Regional Council of southern Israel.
