US Secretary of State John Kerry warned Wednesday that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians could worsen beyond repair unless both sides make rapid compromises.

"As you know, we're very concerned about the violence and the potential for the situation to spin out of control," Kerry told reporters as he arrived in Boston after visiting both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

"Over these past months we have been encouraging the parties to take affirmative steps to reduce tensions and demonstrate a genuine commitment to a two state solution<" Kerry added.

"I think we may be reaching a pivotal point now where both sides have important decisions to make for the future and we obviously hope that they make choices that will advance the prospects for lasting peace."

It is unclear what Kerry considers "out of control," as scores of attacks are already launched against civilians every day.

22 Israelis have been killed and hundreds wounded since October 1, on the heels of the PA's ramped-up incitement campaign against Jews and Israelis.

In October alone, Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) data shows 602 attacks in 30 days - more than during Operation Protective Edge (2014), Operation Pillar of Defense (2012), or Operation Cast Lead (2009).

And of the 1,703 attacks in 2015, a staggering 778 attacks had been launched against Israelis since Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year) until mid-October.
