A female Arab terrorist stabbed a female Border Police officer in Kiryat Arba adjacent to Hevron in Judea on Saturday morning, lightly wounding her before being shot dead by the alert officer.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday the terrorist arrived at the Border Police base Eshmoret Yitzhak in Kiryat Arba and stabbed the officer, who quickly responded, cocked her weapon and shot the terrorist.

"I responded like any other fighter in the Border Police, fortunately the incident ended as it did and no victims lost their life," said M., the officer attacked in the incident.

M. was on duty at a security check point at the entrance to the base in Kiryat Arba when the terrorist came up to her and asked for her help, distracting her and then suddenly whipping out a knife and stabbing her.

The terrorist tried to stab the officer in the neck, but hit her flak jacket instead and then lightly wounded her hand. M. cocked her weapon, shooting the terrorist and eliminating her.

"The terrorist arrived at the check point and asked me to direct her to a certain street in the area, I explained to her that I didn't recognize the name and that she ask locals how to arrive - suddenly she pulled out a knife and tried to stab me in the neck, I took a step back and shot her without hesitating," recalled M.

Judea and Samaria district Border Police commander Brig. Gen. Uzi Levi praised the quick actions of the female officer, saying, "the officer acted exactly as expected of her."

"In the recent period we are witnesses to many attack attempts against security forces and innocent civilians; up to now trained forces and alert and firm civilians have ended the incidents quickly, neutralizing the attacker and preventing a loss of life," said Levi.

First Hevron attack

Earlier on Saturday morning an Arab terrorist tried to stab an Israeli civilian by Beit Hadassah in Hevron.

The Jewish civilian managed to shoot the terrorist with a handgun before being stabbed, killing his attacker and emerging unscathed.

Palestinian Arab security sources identified the terrorist as 18-year-old Fadel al-Kawatsmi.

Video circulated by Palestinian Arab activists showed a young man wearing a kippa holding a handgun as shots rang out, before IDF soldiers moved in between him and the body of his attacker lying on the ground.

Just afterwards an Arab terrorist tried to stab Border Police officers on Rav Hahovel Street in Jerusalem's southeastern Armon Hanatziv neighborhood on Saturday morning. The terrorist was eliminated before inflicting any wounds.

The attacks were rounded out on Saturday night by another stabbing in Hevron, in which a Jewish youth was moderately wounded by his attacker who was subsequently shot dead.

The attack in Kiryat Arba in which the terrorist first asked for help appears to show a new trend in recent attacks, by which the terrorists try to approach security forces with some tactic to distract them.

Just on Friday an Arab terrorist disguised as a photojournalist replete with a "press" jacket stabbed and moderately wounded an IDF soldier at the Hazayit checkpoint near Hevron, before being shot dead.
