One of the two children who were found abandoned in a hot car near Beit Shemesh passed away in hospital on Friday afternoon.

The two children, aged three and five, were found in their booster chairs in Moshav Zanoach, and were taken to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, where one of them later died. The second child remains in serious condition.

An initial investigation revealed that the two children are cousins from Zanoach. Investigator say the two were playing together and some time later, when the family noticed that they had been missing, went out to look for them and found them unconscious and locked in the family car.

Temperatures reached 33C (91F) in the area on Friday.
