A senior delegation from the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) visited Jordan in September, Jordanian media reports, and met with King Abdullah II and other senior officials.

The official Jordanian news agency reported that King Abdullah stressed his guests to increase efforts to resume negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to advance the two-state solution, and to establish a Palestinian state living in peace and security alongside Israel. The line is not inconsistent with Amman's general stance on the issue, which has leaned heavily pro-Palestinian.

According to the report, CIJA representatives, led by the organization's CEO Shimon Fogel and Chairman David Cape, praised King Abdullah's efforts to deal intelligently with the current challenges in the Middle East and the central role of Jordan in supporting peace efforts in the Middle East.

Other topics included a possible Syrian refugee program, through which Canadian Jews would sponsor refugees to be brought over to ease the burden on Jordanian refugee camps. Some 622,000 Syrians had registered with the UN Human Rights Council in Jordan as of February 2015.

Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, King’s Office Director Jafar Hassan, and Canadian Ambassador Bruno Saccomani also attended the meeting, Canadian Jewish News reports. The meeting was hailed as somewhat routine; CIJA's relationship with Jordan hails back as far as 2012.
