Advanced Staff Agt. Zehariah Gil, 44, of the C4I/Teleprocessing Corps, has been identified as the soldier who died during IDF reserve training on Sunday.

Gil's family has been notified; his funeral will be held at 4:30 pm IST Monday at the military cemetery in Yehud (outside of Lod/Tel Aviv area - ed.).

The soldier's death is currently under investigation from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the IDF's medical unit.

Gil had been carrying out physical training when he felt chest pain and collapsed. He was evacuated to the base's medical clinic where his death was determined.

On August 4, an 18-year-old new IDF soldier died from heat stroke.

The youth, Private Dan Sela from Afula in Israel's north, was taking part in a tour with his unit in Jerusalem's Old City when he collapsed from the heat. He was evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital, where doctors had to pronounce his untimely death.

IDF Ground Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Guy Tzur ordered that an investigative committee be established and headed by a colonel to look into possible negligence in the death of the soldier, who was a cadet in a squad commander course for general IDF recruits.
