Hamas on Thursday published a new propaganda video which, it claims, sheds new light on the circumstances surrounding the death and kidnapping of the body of IDF soldier Lt. Hadar Goldin during Operation Protective Edge.

In the video, which aired through the Al-Jazeera television network, Hamas denies it violated a ceasefire on the day of the kidnapping, saying the abduction occurred 25 minutes before the ceasefire came into effect.

Hamas also claims that Goldin’s fellow soldiers did not enter the terrorist tunnel to search for his body. Instead, the terror group says, the IDF soldiers took with them the body of a terrorist dressed in IDF uniforms, thinking it was Goldin’s.

The same propaganda film shows a rare documentation of Gilad Shalit during the time of his captivity with Hamas official Mohammed Abu Shamala, a Hamas commander who was eliminated by Israel during Operation Protective Edge.

Goldin, a first lieutenant in the Givati Brigade, was killed on August 1, 2014 at the height of the operation after Hamas terrorists breached one of several ceasefires to attack his unit on the outskirts of the city of Rafah.

Likewise, Golani Brigade First Sergeant Oron Shaul was killed the previous month during clashes between Hamas infiltrators and the IDF in the Gaza Belt and his body was also captured by terrorists.

Hamas has continued to hold the two soldiers’ bodies as bargaining chips. It was rumored that Israel and Hamas would strike a deal for their return which could see the release of terrorists imprisoned in Israel, but Hamas later toughened its conditions for such a deal.

The Goldin family responded to Hamas’s propaganda film by saying that "the lies and slanders of Hamas are repeatedly aired on Al-Jazeera, and this is most outrageous.”

"We fully back the IDF, the security forces and the State of Israel and consider them the sole and exclusive address to receive accurate information. We call for increased pressure on Hamas to bring back Hadar and Oron, whose bodies were kidnapped, to be buried in Israel.”
