An American citizen has been named as one of four terrorists who conducted a suicide bombing for Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq, ISIS claimed on a social media posting Thursday.

The terrorist, only identified as "Abu Abdullah al-Amriki," was one of the terrorists killed in an attack in Baiji, after he detonated explosives rigged to a 4 x 4. Two Tajiks and an Iraqi also participated in similar attacks, it said.

ISIS did not specify when the attacks took place.

Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) spokesman James Campbell would not confirm nor deny al-Amriki's status, nor the bombing itself, citing official FBI policy.

In July, FBI chief James Comey revealed that no fewer than 200 American citizens had flown to Syria to join ISIS and other jihadist groups.
