The State of Israel has mostly remained quiet since the announcement that Israeli citizen Avraham Mengistu was abducted by Hamas - but, weeks later, the Mengistu family refuses to stay silent.

On Monday, the Mengistus will protest in front of the Hadarim Detention Center, between Raanana and Netanya, as the families of terrorist prisoners arrive for a visit.

The family will be accompanied by long time head of the Kibbutz Movement's task Yoel Marshak, who led the protest for the release of Gilad Shalit, according to Yediot Aharonot.

Until now, the family has remained mostly low-profile since the announcement, and have even called on the Israeli Ethiopian community not to take to the streets to protest the State's inaction.

Now, however, the family appears to have changed its mind, and is calling on the community to join them.

"This is different than the protest against Gilad Shalit's case, because in this case it is a humanitarian, not a military affair," a source close to the family stated. "The family is aware of the difference, and also aware of the current difficulties."

"On the other hand, they want to see their son at home," the source continued. "We want to put pressure on Hamas via prisoners' families."

Hamas has attempted to trick both Israel and the international community on multiple occasions about Mengistu's whereabouts and status, including claiming falsely that the mentally ill Israeli was an IDF soldier and attempting to return an Eritrean illegal alien in Mengistu's place during a failed retrieval attempt.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) stated in July that no terrorist prisoner swap deals would be made for Mengistu or the Bedouin Israeli, in an additional proof that Mengistu was not a captured soldier.
