Thursday will mark the busiest day of the summer at Ben Gurion Airport and possibly the busiest day since the airport's inception in 1936, Walla! News reports.

Over 77,000 people are expected to make their way in and out of Israel today on a total of 453 incoming and outgoing flights, which will land or take off at a rate of every three minutes.

According to the Israel Airports Authority, some 40,000 passengers are expected to fly out of Ben Gurion Airport, while 37,600 will be entering the Jewish state.

In light of the large crowds, the IAA has called on passengers flying from Israel to arrive at least three hours before departure as well as to make use of internet check-in options, if possible.

For the pick-up of returning Israelis and incoming tourists, the IAA has recommended that drivers stay updated on arrival times via Ben Gurion Airport's website and only make their to gate at these designated times.

Police will be on scene to ticket cars loitering and blocking the lane outside of the main arrivals hall at Terminal 3.

Israel Railways, meanwhile, announced Wednesday a new dedicated service for the tens of thousands of passengers who travel to the airport by train.

Ben Gurion Airport flight attendants will be placed on the railway station platform to help passengers carrying luggage as they alight from or board the trains.

The service will run for two weeks from August 16 until August 31 on Sunday through Thursday, and will operate 24 hours a day.
