According to MK Shelly Yechimovich (Zionist Union), Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism) announced Monday morning in the Knesset Subcommittee on Drugs that specialist doctors will be allowed to prescribe marijuana for medicinal purposes.
The cannabis will be sold at drugstores with a prescription.
The committee head, MK Tamar Zandberg (Meretz) supports legalization of marijuana, as does another rmember, MK Yinon Magal (Jewish Home).
"Cannabis is sometimes the source of hope and healing when all other medicines have failed,” wrote Yechimovich. She listed “convulsions, Parkinson's, severe pain, depression and dangerous loss of appetite with patients in serious condition” as some of these conditions.
