Joining the chorus of artists blasting Culture Minister Miri Regev for "pressuring" the Jerusalem Film Festival to cancel the screening of a movie about Yigal Amir was documentary filmmaker Dror Moreh.
Moreh, the director of the controversial film "The Gatekeepers," which featured interviews with six former heads of the Shin Bet, is known for being outspoken in his leftist views.
Speaking to Channel 10's morning program on Thursday, Moreh accused Regev of "playing a dirty political game" in order to cater to the wishes of Likud voters.
Moreover, Moreh asserted, if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu "continues to let her rile things up," she will become a "significant" threat to his leadership.
While emphasizing his distaste for a character like Yitzhak Rabin's assassin, Moreh stressed it was time to cut off the "politicization of the politicians."
"Regev cannot take funding away from the Festival," which she may have done if directors hadn't canceled the screening of "Beyond the Fear," and "expect me to support it."
"For me, the role of minister is not to censor," Moreh continued. "Regev does not understand the nature of her job and thinks she is still in the military, where she can dictate messages."
"She does not understand the role," he asserted again, "and is running around like an elephant in a china shop. She is going wild and causing damage - today it is Yigal Amir and the theater, tomorrow it'll be something else."
It is not the first time Moreh has attacked Netanyahu or his government in relation to the Rabin assassination. In 2013, he slammed the Prime Minister in an interview on CNN, saying that he was personally responsible in part for Rabin's murder.
