Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid criticized at his party's faction meeting on Monday the failure of the government to completely implement the conclusions of Eli Elalouf's committee to eradicate poverty.
According to Lapid, "the fight against poverty costs around 2 billion shekels a year. So determined Elalouf's committee which was appointed by [Yesh Atid MK] Meir Cohen when he was Welfare Minister."
"The current government wishes to allocate only a third of the amount required to eradicate this important issue. They also seek to spread the implementation of the conclusions out over 10 years. In other words, they're trying to dissolve it," Lapid argued.
"Today, we are raising a motion of no confidence in the government because it refuses the implement the conclusions of the Elalouf committee within five years, as the committee itself recommended, and as we committed to do."
"Eli Elalouf is part of this coalition," Lapid added of the new Kulanu MK, who he also contacted for backing on Monday.
"Eli, don't let them dissolve and erase your life's work. It cannot be that we are now fighting over your committee's conclusions, and you will vote against it," Lapid pleaded.
