MK Ayoub Kara (Likud) continued his campaign Saturday night to be named a minister, writing in a letter to supporters that the appointment of Druze minister is a "national necessity" for Israel.

A Druze minister is necessary, Kara explained, "to satisfy the thousands of Druze soldiers and minorities deployed on Israel's borders."

In particular, the MK noted, "[to satisfy] my bereaved family, led by the father of Zidan Seif, who lost his life defending the worshippers in the synagogue in Har Nof in Jerusalem."

Despite having openly threatened Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu last Thursday, announcing he would not to show up for the swearing-in of the new government if he is not appointed minister, Kara then attempted to prove his loyalty to Netanyahu in the letter.

"I have followed the Prime Minister like Ruth the Moabite from the day I arrived in Likud. I love, admire and rest him; we are a family with his family," Kara proclaimed.

"But just as as our prophet Jethro serves as Moses' eyes, I also aim to illuminate path," Kara insisted. "There is a national need for this because this alliance is on the line."

Maintaining his assertion that the problem is not personal, and that he'd be satisfied as long as any minority MK is appointed minister, Kara stressed he would be a "loyal soldier" to another minority minister.

"I trust the Prime Minister understands this need on behalf of the IDF and our state of Israel," Kara concluded.

"As for those who criticize my behavior, I suggest they check which parties had candidates, and what the viewpoints of those candidates were, while I fought against the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif."
