The Beit El community celebrated with joy on Sunday, as the Shukrun family held the bris (circumcision) of a new baby - just days after their five year-old son Benaya was killed in a bus accident

Friends and family flooded the Midrash Eliyahu synagogue for the happy day and to provide support for the family.

The baby's name is Yosef Chaim.

"The combination of grief and joy is a feeling that is indescribable," father Maoz Shukrun said to Arutz Sheva. "There is tremendous joy in our hearts."

Another family member commented on the mixed feelings at the event.

"There is a lot of pain," he said. "We think of five year-old Benaya, who is not with us today, as we are also happy to see his little brother entered into the Covenant of Avraham."

"There are a lot of tears mixed with joy," he added. "It is very difficult, a feeling that tears at your heartstrings."

Last Monday, Benaya was run over in the fatal accident. According to the initial investigation, while Benaya was riding on a scooter, he was caught between the wheels of a Binyamin Regional Council bus, without the driver noticing, and was subsequently run over and killed.
