How can one idea have so many different interpretations with such dire consequences?

Holiness is one of the most misunderstood topics and has led to catastrophes that you can be sure the Creator would not have been proud of.

This week’s Torah reading, which goes into this concept, is a good opportunity to look at the idea a bit deeper. One nation’s idea of holiness is another’s idea of insanity.

There are “holy wars” going on and not too long ago knights went on “holy crusades", often resulting in the cruel death of many from among the “Holy People".

How can one idea have so many different interpretations with such dire consequences? Also, with Lag B’Omer coming up, it is that time of year once again to ask, “What is Pardes? and why should I care?"
