Footage has emerged showing the moment a crowd of some 100,000 mourners stampeded towards the coffin of leading haredi Rabbi Shmuel Wosner, causing the death of one man and the serious injury of several others.

The video, first posted on the Behedrei Haredim website, shows the sea of people pushing to reach Rabbi Wosner's coffin, after the leading Torah scholar passed away Saturday.

In the resulting chaos 27-year-old Mordechai Gerber was crushed to death, leaving behind a wife and three-year-old son.

11 others were injured in the same incident, which took place as the coffin was being transported from Rabbi Wosner's home in the city of Bnei Brak in central Israel.

Gerber, a resident of the city of Elad, will be buried Sunday afternoon beside his parents in the Petach Tikva/Segula cemetery.
