As the 20th Knesset was sworn in on Tuesday, former MK and minister David Levy was on hand at the Knesset, but not for himself - he was there to support his two MK children, Jacky Levy of Likud and Orly Levy-Abekasis of Yisrael Beytenu.

Levy was born in Morocco and last served with Likud in his illustrious Knesset career that spanned from 1969 to 2006 and included stints as deputy prime minister and several ministerial spots, including the foreign portfolio.

He admitted to Arutz Sheva, "I had enough of this place...but the changing of the guard has a special feel to it. The children grew up on something and are continuing on the path."

Addressing his son Jacky, David Levy said "I blessed him, and he knows things even if i don't say anything...there's telepathy on things that they grew up on, things we believe in. Orly proved it, Jacky will too, and two is better than one. They will act for the public and press things forward to make people happy."

Turning his focus on the Israeli parliament, Levy noted "I am a father, a human, and I respect this place and it's dignity - of course there are also less sympathetic debates here - but the Knesset is a mirror of the society."

"Today I think all of the people of Israel need to be moved by the fact of the renewal of its sovereignty (in Israel - ed.), and this place is the symbol of that sovereignty," remarked the veteran politician.

Levy's son Jacky also spoke about the changing of the guard, saying "I came here today with my father to the official ceremony, and afterwards we need to work."

Jacky Levy stated that he entered the Knesset to represent the "periphery" regions in the north and south, as well as to fight for social issues.

If he gets stuck, he noted he can always ask his dad for advice, stating "I think I have the best teacher."
