As general elections approach, Labor leader Yitzhak Herzog is finding new and creative ways to attack Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

During a "Culture Shabbat" event in Ramat Gan, Herzog argued that the fight last week over chocolate, between an Israeli family and various stewards on an Israir flight, is a direct result of the desperation felt by Israeli citizens.

"What happened on the Israir flight is a result of the division and rifts Bibi has led us to," Herzog claimed.

"I will work to unite the people. I have the ability to unite the Right and the Left, the secular word and the traditional-religious world. Together. We are allowed to dream of a better future for Israel. Couples are allowed to dream of owning an apartment, and that their children will have security."

Herzog, who is looking to replace Netanyahu as prime minister, is running for the 20th Knesset as co-head of the Zionist Camp with Hatnua Chairwoman Tzipi Livni.

At the event, he continued to attack Netanyahu, arguing that the Prime Minister has shirked his responsibility to Israeli citizens.

"Netanyahu uses the same recycled spins every time a new problem stands before him. It is always Iran, always gossip, and the throwing away of responsibility," Herzog charged.

"Israel needs a responsible prime minister who will deal with the problems he faces, especially the Palestinian issue and Israeli citizens' loss of a sense of security."

"Additionally, [he will deal with] the most severe housing shortage since Israel came into existence, and the cost of living that sees people rummaging through garbage cans because of abject hunger," Herzog concluded.
