It could have been the meeting of a Knesset committee: On Tuesday night, representatives of both Likud and the Zionist Camp attended the wedding of MK Yaakov Litzman's granddaughter in Bnei Brak.

The unusual showing of bipartisan guests prompted the United Torah Judaism MK to say that his party had no problem with any political party, and was prepared to join a government that included any party – except Yesh Atid.

Siting next to Litzman, and sporting a knitted kippah for the occasion, was Labor head Yitzhak Herzog. He was flanked by Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz. Other MKs and ministers were in attendance, and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also called in to congratulate the Litzman family.

Litzman said that the appearance by the MKs and ministers was nothing new. “I have invited them to previous family celebrations,” he stated in an interview Wednesday.

“We did discuss a number of issues, but it would not be proper to reveal them. But I was happy that they came,” he added.

One person who was not invited to the party – and would not be invited to sit in any government UTJ became a part of – was Yair Lapid.

“He is the only one I would not want to be a part of the government I joined,” said Litzman.

“He claims that he has 'repented' for his actions against the haredi public – such as passing the law to force yeshiva students to serve in the IDF – but in his case, repentance with words is not enough; he should remain in the opposition for a year, and praise our students for the Torah they learn. Under Jewish law, repentance must be done under the same circumstances and in the same way as the sin.”
