Four men in their thirties were found unconscious overnight Thursday/Friday, and are in critical condition after an apparent poisoning or drug overdose.

The four collapsed next to a warehouse in the back of Ashdod's "Trio" restaurant, next to the Keshtot Beach. They were found with no signs of external injuries.

United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom (MDA) medics arrived at the scene and began giving the four medical care after they were found; two were transferred to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot and two to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for further treatment.

Details of why the men were standing outside a warehouse in the early morning hours, and how they fell unconscious without sustaining external injuries, are under investigation, police stated.

Avi Amar, a United Hatzalah volunteer medic, told Walla! News that all signs point to poisoning in the mysterious case.

"I came across four men laying on the ground, unconscious," Amar recounted. "It seems like this was a poisoning. I and other volunteers gave them basic medical assistance until the ambulances arrived, and they were transferred to hospital in serious condition. There they will determine the exact cause."

Yaniv Assouline, MDA spokesman, added in his remarks from the scene that the four were found at about 1:10 a.m. Friday, and that the situation was "difficult."

Later Friday morning, police announced their suspicions that the four had actually overdosed on drugs, IDF Radio now reports.
