Arab terrorists opened fire Thursday night on an Israeli car driving on Highway 465 near Hadoar Intersection, in the Binyamin region of Samaria north of Jerusalem.

According to reports no one was wounded in the attack, which marks an escalation in the frequent rock attacks on Israeli cars in the area - those attacks have also have been fatal in several instances.

The attack comes on the background of a recent wave of terrorism that has particularly been centered in the Jerusalem area.

Just on Thursday it was revealed that Israeli security services thwarted a major Hamas terrorist cell in Judea and Samaria back in September.

The cell, which was directed by Hamas's leadership in Turkey, was planning attacks on several major targets including Jerusalem's Teddy Stadium. It also was thought to be behind several roadside bombs placed at junctions in Samaria, in an area north of where the shooting occurred Thursday.

In the investigation, over 30 terrorists were arrested and a large weapons cache including two M-16 semi-automatic rifles, ammunition and bomb-making materials were seized.
