Thunderstorms rage across Israel Sunday morning, prompting flood warnings for several coastal cities.

Rain began Saturday night in the North, from Haifa to the Western Galilee, and caused several flash floods in southern Lebanon.

Heavy rain, thunder, and lightning continue across the North, the Central District, Judea and Samaria, and Jerusalem Sunday morning, but is expected to taper off somewhat by Sunday afternoon.

The rain has also brought cool winter temperatures. Highs today will hit 18C (64.4F) in Katsrin; 19C (66F) in Nahariya; 15C (59F) in Tzfat; and 22C (71.6F) in Tiberias.

In the center, temperatures in Ariel are steady at 17C (62.6F), 21C (69.5F) in Tel Aviv, and 17C (62.6F) in Jerusalem.

Temperatures are warmer in the South, with highs of 22C (71.6F) in Ashkelon, 23C (73.4F) in Be'er Sheva, and 27C (80.6F) in Eilat.

Rain is expected to stop nationwide by Monday, but temperatures will remain cool, warming up by the weekend.

Meanwhile, traffic police have asked the public to be alert Sunday due to the storms, after rainfall caused flash flooding earlier this month in Tel Aviv and the surrounding cities.

Already on Sunday, the Tel Aviv traffic police have noted that there is a large pool of water building on the La Guardia interchange in the northbound lanes, and have asked motorists to take alternative routes to prevent congestion.

Photos circulating on social media indicated that some Tel Aviv and Bnei Brak side streets are already flooded.

And in the Samaria community of Elkana, a fire erupted at the local yeshiva (Torah academy) high school, after a bolt of lightning struck a construction site there, electrocuting two Palestinian Arab workers. Firefighters and medics rushed to the scene; the workers, both estimated to be about 30 years old, have been transferred to nearby hospital for medical treatment.
