Reactions to the shooting of Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick continued to pour in Thursday, after Glick was shot and seriously wounded late Wednesday in Jerusalem. The Im Tirzu Zionist student organization slammed the attempted murder of Glick, calling it the natural outgrowth of the ongoing incitement against Temple Mount activists, and a part of the “creeping intifada” that has been taking place in Jerusalem in recent weeks.

Matan Peleg, director of Im Tirzu, said that “the Temple Mount is and remains the symbol and test of the imposition of Israeli sovereignty on Jerusalem. After weeks of incitement by the far left and Islamists, we have to say that it was very clear that the writing was on the wall for an incident like this. We call on the Israeli government to immediately put a stop to incitement and terror.”

Temple Mount activist Yehuda Etzion also said that he was not surprised at the murder attempt. “It is the result of the background music of incitement of recent days. Yehuda is brave, and he said what he had to say.

“Unfortunately there are partners to this crime, and they are the Israel Police,” he said. “I know that Yehuda warned them time and time again that it was very possible that a Jewish activist would be killed because of the incitement against Jews on the Temple Mount. But until now police have done nothing to stop the inciters, while the Jews who ascend the Mount to pray are treated like near-criminals.”

Glick - who founded and heads the LIBA Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount  was deliberately targeted for nationalistic reasons. Reports Thursday said that the terrorist that targeted Glick had been eliminated by Yassam security forces.

The Begin Center had been hosting an event to help in efforts to re-establish a greater Jewish presence on the Mount Wednesday night, just before the activist was shot. He was rushed to Sha'arei Tzedek Medical Center for immediate medical treatment and remains in serious condition.
