Terrorists from Gaza fired a barrage of rockets towards southern Israel on Wednesday evening.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m., sirens were heard in the vicinity of Ashdod as well as in Sderot and the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.

At least three rockets were fired towards the region, one of which was intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system over Ashdod. Two additional rockets exploded in open regions, causing no physical injuries or damages.

Earlier Wednesday, the barrage of rockets fired on Israeli civilian populations by Gaza terrorists continued, after the ceasefire was breached the previous afternoon.

Shortly after 11 a.m. four rockets fell on the Eshkol Regional Council area, with two of them landing in a local community.

Light damage was caused by the missile volley to several vehicles and buildings, and at least one local resident was suffering from shock after the close and powerful blasts.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that the campaign did not end with Operation Protective Edge in Israel, and that the battle against Hamas is merely an extension of the fight against Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda, and Islamic State (formerly ISIS).

"One consideration alone is before me - what is good for the State of Israel," Netanyahu said, stressing that this principle "is the only one that guides me in making decisions."

"Nothing else [guides me] - nor the left or the right or other interests," he emphasized. "My sole responsibility [now] is for the safety and peace of the citizens of Israel, and accordingly we will continue to act with a sense of responsibility and judgment."
