MK Hanin Zoabi was summoned for questioning on Sunday, but the MK from Balad had other plans, Channel 2 News reported.
According to the report, the investigations division of the Israel Police contact a representative of Zoabi’s and suggested that she will be questioned under caution the same day.
Zoabi's representative, however, declared that the MK "cannot be questioned today" and that "she has no time." Zoabi was offered to be questioned on Monday but the representative said she has no free time on Monday, either.
The police summons come two days after Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein approved the launching of a criminal investigation against Zoabi on suspicion of incitement to violence and offending a public servant.
The investigation is over a recent incident in which Arab rioters clashed with security forces during a demonstration in Nazareth. There has been no decision as of yet regarding an investigation into Zoabi's conduct during a violent demonstration in Haifa a week ago Friday, during which she was handcuffed for several minutes.
Zoabi has openly encouraged Hamas, stating in a recent interview that Israel is “afraid of casualties” and is hoping for a ceasefire.
This statement is just one in a long line of anti-Israel statements and actions on Zoabi’s part. Recently, she declared that Israel should "thank her" for allowing Jews to live in the Jewish State.
The anti-Israel MK was thrust back into the spotlight last month, after making a series of remarks defending Hamas's horrific abduction and murder of three Israeli yeshiva high school students.
MK Danny Danon (Likud) welcomed the decision to launch an investigation against Zoabi and wrote on his Facebook page on Friday, “It is time for this terrorist to be in jail. I hope that the investigation will finish soon and will lead to her conviction.”
MK Ze’ev Elkin (Likud) welcomed the decision as well and said, "I'm glad to finally see the law enforcement doing its job and starting to treat the collaborators of the enemy from among the Arab MKs. Hanin Zoabi is serving in the Knesset only because the judicial system protected her against the just decision of the Central Election Commission to disqualify her candidacy.”
He added, “I call on the police and the legal system to promote the investigation and prosecution as quickly as possible! Time for the traitors among the Arab MKs to be dealt with harshly! No democratic country would tolerate such conduct.”
