Air France said it will resume flights to Tel Aviv from Friday evening, after halting services to Israel earlier this week because of the Gaza conflict.

The first flight will leave Paris at 11:00 p.m., a spokesman said, according to AFP.

The carrier suspended services Tuesday after a rocket fired from Gaza landed near Tel Aviv's international Ben Gurion Airport.

On Thursday,  U.S. airlines lifted their bans on flights to Ben Gurion International Airport, which were imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday after a rocket exploded in Yehud, not far from the airport.

The European air safety agency also lifted its warning on flights to the Jewish state, as did Russia's second-largest air carrier Transaero.

However, Germany's biggest airline Lufthansa said Thursday it would continue to suspend flights to Tel Aviv for another 24 hours over security concerns.

Israel, meanwhile, has assisted more than 2,000 Israelis stuck in Turkey after the worldwide flight ban bandwagon left tens of thousands stranded.

The 2,000 Israelis were successfully moved to Athens, from where they will be flown back to Israel.
