A car accident outside the community of Mitzpe Yericho, located in the Binyamin region of Judea between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, has led to telecommunications being disconnected throughout the town, sources told Arutz Sheva Tuesday.

One resident's car hit a Bezeq phone tower and caused severe damage to the entire infrastructure, they said. Telephones and internet have been disconnected.

Residents of Mitzpe Yericho expressed concern with the situation.

"How can I live without internet and telephone for a week?" a resident asked.

Bezeq responded to Arutz Sheva's inquiries into the matter on Tuesday, stating that repair efforts are already underway.

"One resident's vehicle collided with a telecommunications pillar this morning and caused very serious damage," the company said. "Bezeq is working to repair the damage quickly [. . .] but due to the great damage to the infrastructure this may take some time."

Two buildings and a chicken coop were destroyed last Monday by the IDF Civil Administration and police in the community of Yissa Beracha, an extension of Mitzpe Yericho established three and a half years ago, even as illegal Arab construction adjacent to the community was ignored. The town overlooks the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Jericho.
