The Western Wall (Kotel) Police closed off a major gateway to the Western Wall plaza for those coming from King David Street / Jaffa Gate Market, in the absence of security guards.

In the course of the last month, there is a shortage of Western Wall guards from the security firm. And despite the many efforts of the police vis-a-vis the company, the firm failed to enlarge the pool of security guards, so occasionally the gates to the Temple Mount were closed off, since there was no one there to administer a security check.

The Fund for the Heritage of the Western Wall is demanding to look into the police's contract with the firm, and stated clearly: “This situation cannot continue, not even for one more day.”

The Fund for the Heritage of the Western Wall summed up Pesach as a success, with more than 500,000 people visiting the Wall during the week-long holiday.
