Winter weather is expected to return this week after an unusually warm weekend, weather forecasters said Sunday morning.

On Sunday, temperatures are expected to begin dropping. Temperatures will continue to drop Monday, and by Monday evening there may be light local rain showers in northern and central Israel.

Rainfall will continue Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters say, stopping only on Wednesday evening.

The expected rain showers may come as somewhat of a relief to climate experts, who have expressed concern over the unusually dry winter weather.

Temperatures Sunday are expected to reach a high of 20 degrees (68 Fahrenheit) in Israel’s coastal cities, with a low of 14 degrees (57 Fahrenheit) at night. In Jerusalem, temperatures are expected to hit a high of 15 degrees (59 Fahrenheit) during the day and to drop to roughly 8 degrees (46 Fahrenheit) at night.
