The wife of a Gaza terrorist serving time in an Israeli jail has given birth to a son after being impregnated by sperm smuggled out of the prison, reports the Waed Gaza prisoner association on Friday.

While the unusual birthing method has been employed for prisoners from Judea and Samaria in the past, Saber Abu Karsh, director of prisoner association, told AFP this was the first case of such a birth in Gaza.

The prisoner is Tamer Zaanin of Beit Hanun in northern Gaza. His wife "gave birth to her first child Hassan today, the first instance of a birth by smuggled sperm of a prisoner," said Karsh, adding "this is a victory for the prisoners and for their will to become fathers."

Zaanine's family reports the 29-year-old was sentenced to 12 years in prison back in 2006, three months after he married. The family did not specify what crimes he was found guilty of to warrant the sentence.

Hamas, the terrorist organization governing Gaza, has previously announced its intentions of genocide against Israel. Nevertheless, reports last week indicated that Israel will increase electricity supply to the Hamas enclave.

Turkey recently surpassed Iran in sponsoring the terror group, which recently released prisoners of rival Fatah of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in a gesture of rapprochement.
